Now that summer is officially over, I find myself reflecting  on the events of the last season. There were several singular occurrences, and most of them were bad. Jerry Lewis’ Telethon

Today is Labor Day, and it has been only a couple of weeks since we lost the man who, for millions, was associated with this holiday for so many years: Jerry Lewis. He founded and hosted the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon, which raised almost two and a half billion dollars over a forty-five-year span! The money was used, among other things,  to fund research on the dreaded disease. It saddens me that there will soon be a generation who has never experienced the Labor Day…..

Milton Gardner, Sr.

On the twenty-first of August, I completely ignored the much-heralded solar eclipse. Ordinarily, I would have at least glanced outside at the scheduled time, but in the wee hours of the morning, my dear friend Milton Gardner, Sr.,  had passed away.
